WHISKY FLAVOUR MAP

This interesting concept 'maps' the flavour profiles of malt whiskies by comparing their smokiness and weight. Many find this a useful tool to find other whiskies they might enjoy.
On the vertical axis whiskies are plotted as to how smokey they are (the flavours which come principally from the peaty flavours used in drying the malted barley) or how delicate they are (whiskies which use unpeated barley and have no peat smoke flavours). So the most delicate would be at the bottom and the most smokey at the top.
On the horizontal axis whiskies are plotted as to how light they are (whiskies with fresh flavours such as green grass, fresh fruits or barley, or how rich (flavours ranging from vanilla and nuttiness to cigar box, chocolate and dried fruit) with the lightest on the left and the richest on the right.
